Borjomi Central Park & springs
The mineral water everyone in the region grew up drinking comes out of the ground in this park, and you can fill a bottle at the source for free. Warm, salty, faintly sulphurous — most people hate the first mouthful. The park itself is a shaded river gorge with a fairground at one end.
Cable car & panorama
A Soviet-era cable car climbs from the park over the gorge to a plateau above the town, in cabins that have been running the same line since the sixties. Two minutes up, and the whole valley opens underneath you.
Bakuriani mountain resort
Georgia's oldest ski resort, half an hour above Borjomi at 1,700 metres, gentler and cheaper than Gudauri and far better for beginners and children. In summer it is a walking and horse-riding base.
