A day in Georgia in 2026: 100-160 lari at the bottom, 210-370 in the middle, and the fares that went up this spring

A travel writer's 2026 price guide, line by line. Useful to a visitor working out a budget, and just as useful to a host working out what a guest will think a room is worth.
Three daily budgets
The guide sets a budget day at 100 to 160 lari, roughly 40 to 60 dollars; a mid-range day at 210 to 370 lari, 80 to 140 dollars; and a high-end day at 660 lari and up, 250 dollars or more. It notes that visitors on shorter Tbilisi trips tend to land between the middle and the top of that scale. The lari figures were written at an exchange rate of about 2.70 to the dollar, and the lari is the only legal tender even where a price is displayed in dollars or euro.
Beds, by category
A hostel dorm bed is put at 8 to 15 dollars a night. A private guesthouse room is 30 to 50 dollars, rising to 45 to 60 in the busiest areas at the peak of summer. A three-star hotel is 55 to 75 dollars; a boutique or five-star property 150 to 220. An entire place on Airbnb is given as 65 to 100 dollars in Tbilisi or Batumi and 35 to 50 in Kutaisi — a gap worth noting if you own in a secondary city and have been pricing against capital-city listings. The guide also reports that upmarket hotel rates were about 10 per cent higher year on year at the start of summer 2026.
Eating, drinking, moving
Khinkali run 1.50 to 3 lari each and are usually sold in minimum orders of five. A mid-range Georgian meal for two is 60 to 80 lari; eating alone, 30 to 45. House wine is 3 to 5 lari a glass, a cappuccino 8 to 10 at a roastery and 5 to 7 at a local cafe, a Tbilisi cocktail 20 to 25. A Tbilisi bus or metro ride is 1 lari, a day pass 3 and a month 40. A Bolt ride across central Tbilisi is 7 to 12 lari and 30 to 40 to the airport. Intercity marshrutkas are mostly 10 to 25 lari, with Tbilisi to Gori about 5, Tbilisi to Kazbegi up to 15, and Svaneti or the coast 30 to 50. Trains range from about 2 lari on the old electric stock to 35 on the modern Stadler services.
The small costs, and what has risen
A Magti SIM or eSIM is 10 lari, with data at 5 lari for a gigabyte and 30 lari for twenty. Museum entry is generally 5 to 20 lari, with the National Museum in Tbilisi at 40 and the Stalin Museum in Gori at 15. Day tours are 35 to 70 dollars a person. An ATM withdrawal costs 2 to 5 lari, and 10 per cent is the standard restaurant tip. On what has moved: the guide notes some intercity marshrutka and coach fares rose by about 5 lari in spring 2026 on fuel costs, and cites the khachapuri index at 7.30 lari in October 2025 against 3.35 lari in 2014 — a decade of food inflation in a single, checkable number.
