Sighnaghi rates 4.7 on Google from 3,977 reviews — and the wall costs nothing

Tripadvisor is cooler on it at 4.4 from 433 reviews. The wall runs about four kilometres with 23 towers, is open at any hour, and the one recorded complaint is cars in narrow lanes.
What the scores say
Wanderlog's aggregation puts Sighnaghi's town wall at 4.7 out of 5 on Google from 3,977 reviews, and 4.4 on Tripadvisor from 433. The Google breakdown is heavily top-weighted: 3,092 five-star, 655 four-star, 189 three-star, 27 two-star and 14 one-star. Two things follow. First, a nine-to-one ratio of five-star to everything below four is unusually strong for a free, unstaffed site. Second, the three-hundred-point gap between the Google and Tripadvisor scores is the sort of divergence that usually means two different audiences — Google capturing day visitors and locals, Tripadvisor capturing people who booked a trip around it and had firmer expectations.
The wall itself
Georgia.to describes a wall stretching over four kilometres and enclosing some forty hectares, originally with 28 towers, of which only a fragment of the full structure survives; elsewhere on the same page the count given is 23. Silver Travel Advisor also reports 23 defensive towers and a four-kilometre circuit, and notes that the bell tower of the St George basilica stands on one of them. Inside the walls Georgia.to names the King's Tower, the Bodbe Tower and the Basilica of St Stephan. If you want the number settled before you go: take 23 as the towers you can actually find, and 28 as the historical figure.
Practicalities, and the one complaint
Admission is free and the site is open 24 hours, which is the single most useful fact about it: you can walk the wall and climb towers at no cost and at any hour, and the sunrise and late-evening light over the Alazani valley are yours without a ticket queue. Wanderlog's own advice is to come early morning or around lunchtime to miss the tour buses, and it notes an open electric vehicle for getting about at around $20 a person. The only explicit complaint recorded on any of these pages is cars passing in narrow spaces. Silver Travel Advisor adds a practical warning of its own: the walk up is a steep incline.
What else is within reach
The Monastery of St Nino at Bodbe, with St Nino's relics, sits 1.8 kilometres from the town centre and is free to enter. Sighnaghi's museum is close in, and Silver Travel Advisor's visitor liked it — small, bright and interesting — while noting a risk worth planning around: on that visit the famous Pirosmani paintings were away on tour in Denmark and Switzerland, so check what is actually hanging before you build a day around them. The Niko Pirosmani House Museum is further out, listed at 8.4 kilometres. For wine, none of these pages names a cellar inside the town; the nearest wine entry is the Numisi cellar-museum at 25 kilometres, which puts Sighnaghi's wine reputation more in its surroundings than its streets.
