What Geostat published
The National Statistics Office released the second-quarter business statistics on 3 September 2026. Turnover reached GEL 67.5 billion, an increase of 11.9% on the same quarter a year earlier, and business-sector output rose 10.7% to GEL 25.7 billion. Average employment in the sector was 828,400 people, up 4.1%, with average monthly salaries of GEL 2,471.5.
Which sectors carried it
By share of turnover, arts, entertainment and recreation led at 36.5%, with wholesale and retail trade at 32.4%. Manufacturing led on output, generating 20.5% of the total. The concentration in a small number of sectors is worth noting for anyone reading the headline growth figure as evidence of broad-based demand.
Why a property owner should care
Rents are paid out of wages, and business hiring is what fills offices, shops and the flats around them. Employment and pay both rising is a supportive backdrop for long-term letting, particularly in districts where the tenants are local rather than transient. It does not on its own tell you whether rents will rise; it tells you whether tenants can absorb the level they are already at.
