The average Georgian wage reached 2,165 lari a month in 2025 — and construction pay rose fastest of the big sectors

Geostat published the 2025 earnings figures on 9 October. For a landlord they are an affordability read; for a developer they are the wage line in next year's build cost.

The headline figure

Average monthly nominal earnings in Georgia were 2,165.2 lari in 2025, up 9.9 per cent — an increase of 194.5 lari — on 2024. Women averaged 1,743.4 lari, 9.5 per cent more than the year before; men averaged 2,586.5 lari, 10.5 per cent more. Geostat notes that men's earnings exceeded women's in almost every sector. These are nominal figures: set against the roughly 5 per cent inflation Georgia has been running through 2026, the real increase is meaningful but smaller than the headline suggests.

Who earns the most

Financial and insurance activities paid the most, at 4,123.6 lari a month, up 12.1 per cent. Information and communication was close behind at 4,042.6 lari, but grew only 3.0 per cent — the slowest of the top three, which is worth noting given how often the sector is described as the engine of Georgian growth. Construction came third at 3,026.1 lari and grew fastest of the three, at 13.5 per cent. The highest average earnings by region were recorded in Tbilisi and Mtskheta-Mtianeti.

Why a developer should read the construction line twice

Construction pays roughly 40 per cent above the national average and is raising wages faster than finance or technology. That matters because Geostat's own construction cost index for August 2026 shows materials almost flat over the year, at 0.8 per cent, with the annual rise driven by transport, fuel and electricity. Put the two releases side by side and the picture is a sector where the physical inputs have steadied while the cost of the people has not. Anyone taking a fixed-price construction contract into 2027 is taking a view on that line.

And why a landlord should read the average twice

An average is not a typical salary — the same release shows a gap of more than 800 lari a month between men's and women's averages, and a wide spread between the top sectors and the rest. For anyone letting to local tenants rather than to visitors, the number that matters is the earnings level in the sector your tenants actually work in, not the national mean. Geostat published a companion release on median earnings by economic activity on the same day, which is the better document for that question.
