Gulf arrivals grew 3.4% in 2025 — and Saudi Arabia is now a top-15 source market for Georgia

The head of the national tourism administration set out the Gulf numbers in July: Saudi Arabia up 9.1%, Qatar 4.6%, the UAE 0.7%. For anyone hosting in Georgia, the interesting part is what those visitors are coming for.
The numbers as the administration gives them
Speaking in July 2026, Maia Omiadze of the Georgian National Tourism Administration reported arrivals from the Gulf up 3.4% in 2025. Saudi Arabia grew fastest at 9.1% and has moved into Georgia's top fifteen source markets; Qatar rose 4.6% and the United Arab Emirates 0.7%. These are moderate rates rather than a surge, but they come from a market that spends well and travels in family groups.
What the pitch actually is
Omiadze framed Georgia's appeal to Gulf travellers around cooler weather, green mountains, wellness resorts and quiet landscapes — an escape from a hot summer at home — plus the ability to see several very different places in one short trip. That is a specific product, and it is not the same one Georgia sells to European city-breakers. It points at Borjomi, Bakuriani, Kazbegi and the mountain guesthouse rather than at a Tbilisi bar crawl.
What it means for hosts and owners
A family market that travels in the hottest months fills beds in exactly the weeks Georgian mountain properties are trying to fill, and it wants larger units, kitchens, and hosts who can handle food requirements without a conversation. If you own something with three bedrooms in a highland town, that is a different marketing problem from a studio in Batumi — and the administration's stated priority of longer stays and more regions is, in practice, an argument for pricing weekly rather than nightly.
The limit on the whole thing
Growth of a few per cent a year is real but modest, and the administration itself frames the Gulf as strategic potential rather than as volume already delivered. Anyone building a business plan around Gulf demand should treat it as one segment among several rather than the segment, and watch flight capacity: on a route-dependent market, the number of seats sold in a season is decided by airline scheduling long before it is decided by marketing.
