What reviewers return to again and again is how well the trails are marked and how organised the whole operation feels, which is not the norm for mountain walking in the region.

Access to the trails runs through the park's information centre, roughly twenty minutes' walk from the centre of Borjomi, where visitors register before setting out. Staff hand out maps for a small contribution — reviewers mention 3 lari — and rent camping equipment, bicycles and lockers. Several reviews describe the registration as more bureaucratic than they were expecting, and one mentions unhelpful staff. It is a short errand, but it is not optional and it is not at the trailhead.

Two routes come up repeatedly. The Footprints Trail, about 13 kilometres, is the one day-walkers name most often and the one the views are credited to. The Green Line is the short option, around two hours, and gets its praise for the panorama back over the town. Beyond those, the park lists ten or more marked routes at varying difficulty, so the choice is real rather than nominal.

The recurring complaint that has nothing to do with the park's management is litter left by other visitors — a reminder that the place is popular enough to need looking after. Borjomi itself makes the obvious base: the town is an easy stop between Tbilisi and the south-west, and a guesthouse there turns a long day trip into a comfortable two. For hosts and operators nearby, the registration requirement is the detail worth writing into your guest notes, because it is the one people arrive not knowing.
